Our home for the week is a secluded retreat in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, a peaceful lodge set within lush gardens and surrounded by nature. It is the perfect place to unwind between adventures, whether that means relaxing in a hammock, soaking in the jacuzzi, enjoying the pool, or simply slowing down and listening to the sounds of the forest.

Each day begins and ends with yoga in a simple studio overlooking the trees. Matthew Shaw will guide two practices on most days, with energising morning sessions designed to wake up the body and build strength, and slower evening classes to help you release the day and fully relax.

Beyond the lodge, the Galápagos Islands reveal their extraordinary diversity. We explore the highlights of Santa Cruz Island, including beautiful beaches, highland landscapes and local wildlife. One day we cycle through the highlands to a secluded sandy beach, with the option to kayak along the shoreline before time to swim or unwind by the sea.

Boat journeys take us deeper into the archipelago, where some of the most memorable wildlife encounters await. Expect opportunities to see blue-footed boobies, sea lions, marine iguanas, giant tortoises, turtles and, with luck, the famous Galápagos penguin.

On Bartolomé Island, striking volcanic landscapes create one of the most iconic scenes in the islands. We hike with a naturalist guide, then explore the coastline by dinghy and snorkel in clear waters nearby.

North Seymour Island offers one of the richest birdlife experiences in the archipelago. Walking sandy trails through low vegetation and palo santo woodland, we may witness frigatebirds overhead, blue-footed boobies courting, and sea lions resting close to shore.

Closer to home, Academy Bay gives us another side of island life, with coastal scenery, lava formations, marine iguanas and bright Sally Lightfoot crabs. We also visit Las Grietas, where those who wish can swim or snorkel in its clear turquoise waters.

We also spend time with giant tortoises at El Manzanillo Tortoise Reserve, visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, and enjoy time in Puerto Ayora.

With so much to experience, there is also space to simply pause. Book a massage, relax by the pool, browse the town, join a chocolate workshop, or share stories under the stars with new friends.
