We begin our journey in Kolkata, a city rich with history, culture, and colour. Our first night is spent at the Fairlawn Hotel — a charming colonial-era property perfectly located for exploring the city. After some time to rest, we’ll set out on a guided walking tour to take in Kolkata’s layered past and present: from the vibrant streets of Sudder Street and the grand Indian Museum to the colonial architecture around Dalhousie Square, with possible stops at Mullick Ghat flower market or the Victoria Memorial.
The next day, we leave the city behind and travel north by train and road to the Glenburn Tea Estate, nestled in the foothills above Darjeeling. Perched on a hillside overlooking the River Rungeet, with panoramic views of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain, Glenburn is a working tea estate dating back to the 1800s. Life moves more slowly here — the air is fresh, the hills roll on endlessly, and there’s always a scent of tea in the mountain breeze.
Over the course of the week, you’ll be guided by Jean Hall, one of London’s most respected yoga teachers, known for her soulful slow flow and grounded presence. Most days include two practices that blend yoga, somatics, breath awareness, and meditation, creating a spacious, embodied rhythm that reflects the landscape around you — fluid, strong, and deeply restorative.
Your mornings begin in stillness, with a cup of Glenburn tea brought to your bedside — so you can watch the sun rise over the peaks from the comfort of your room. After yoga and a plentiful breakfast on the lawn, the day opens up to exploration. A guided tour of the 1600-acre private estate introduces you to the craft of tea-making — from the fields to the factory — and ends with a tasting session revealing the complex flavours of the region.
You’ll also hike with an experienced guide and naturalist, following trails through Bora Gaon village, the Simbong Forest, and beyond, with sweeping views over Sikkim, Kalimpong, and the valley below. Another day includes a scenic walk to the Seven Sisters Waterfall, through forested paths and villages, with the chance to swim in the crystal-clear pools before enjoying a thali lunch at Glenburn Orchard.
We’ll spend a full day visiting Darjeeling town, the historic hill station at 6,000 feet, framed by the towering presence of Kanchenjunga. Our adventure includes a ride on the UNESCO-listed Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, winding through the iconic Batasia Loop to the towns of Ghoom and Kurseong. You’ll have time to wander the Mall, browse crafts, visit Das Studios, and pause for tea at Glenary’s or Keventers — or simply take in the views from Chowrasta.
And of course, there will be time to rest. You can book massages and treatments at your leisure, including full-body massages with Darjeeling Green Tea Oil, reflexology, and a refreshing mint and chamomile foot soak — ideal after days spent walking and wandering.
Curated for a small, like-minded group, this invitation-only retreat offers the chance to step into something quietly transformative.
Who's Teaching: Jean Hall

Jean teaches a strong, soulful slow flow form of yoga. She is known for her unique creative sequencing of postures which helps to draw students and teachers safely beyond limitations and closer to their true potential and confidence through the ancient yogic system of asanas, mindful breathing and meditation with an approach of devotion and playfulness.
You’ll have a 2 hour morning practice where breath work/pranayama unfolds into a fluid movement and dynamic yoga asana flow to awaken, invigorate and cleanse. Your evening practice will be 1.5 hours of gentle, calming and healing with yin and restorative poses, inversions, meditation and deep relaxation (yoga nidra).
